Alex Turner, born Alexander Turner on 6 January 1986 in Sheffield, England,
emerged from a musically inclined family and a school friendship with Matt
Helders to co‑found Arctic Monkeys in 2002, releasing the EP "Fake Tales of San
Francisco" in 2004 and signing to Domino Recording Company in 2005. The band’s
debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (2006) topped the UK
Albums Chart and earned critical acclaim, followed by Favourite Worst Nightmare
(2007), Humbug (2009), Suck It and See (2011), AM (2013), Tranquility Base Hotel
