Alegre Corrêa, born on June 9, 1960 in Passo Fundo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil,
is a Brazilian guitarist and composer. He started his musical career at 13.
Corrêa won first prizes for instrumental composition at the Fampop in São Paulo
(1988) and the Musicanto Festival in Rio Grande do Sul (1992). After moving to
Vienna in 1989, he founded the Alegre Corrêa Sextett in 1993. From 2005 to 2010,
Corrêa was a member of Joe Zawinul's The Zawinul Syndicate, contributing to
their Grammy-winning album 75 (2010). His albums include Handmade (1999), Leme
(2013), and Gondwana (2015).
