AIME BARELLI

Aimé Barelli, born May 1, 1917 in Lantosque, France, was a French jazz trumpeter, conductor, and singer. He began playing the trumpet at age sixteen at the Palais de la Méditerranée in Nice, and was later engaged at the Palm Beach in Cannes. At the beginning of World War II, he moved to Paris and performed in Fred Adison's orchestra. In June 1940, he joined Raymond Legrand's ensemble, and also co-founded the Jazz de Paris with Hubert Rostaing, Jerry Mengo, and Alix Combelle.
