Aida Vedishcheva is a Soviet and American singer who was born as Ida Solomonovna
Weiss in Kazan, Soviet Union, in 1941. She achieved early professional
recognition in the early 1960s with the Orel State Philharmonic Society and is
famous for providing the singing voice for iconic film soundtracks, including
the hit “Song About Bears” (1967), which sold seven and a half million records.
Vedishcheva won the first prize at the All-Union Competition of Soviet Song in
1966 and received a diploma at the Sopot International Song Festival in 1968.
