Afro Medusa was formed in London by Isabel Fructuoso, Nick Bennett and Patrick
Cole after Isabel Fructuoso relocated from Spain to the UK in the late 1990s.
The trio combined Isabel Fructuoso’s Latin‑funk background with Nick Bennett and
Patrick Cole’s electronic production skills, producing the early EP "Calling" in
1999. Their breakthrough came with the single "Pasilda" in 1999, which climbed
to Number 1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in November 2000
