Afrika Bambaataa

Rap music
Old school hip hop
East Coast rap
Born in New York on May 10, 1960, Afrika Bambaataa is a historic pioneer of the hip-hop sound. His skill at the turntable enabled him to create breaks and scratches. Although "Planet Rock" (with Soul Sonic Force, 1981) went down in history, Bambaataa's career as an artist remains a disappointment, as he indulges in facile, grotesque self-parody.
