Adnan Karim, born in 1963 in Kirkuk, Iraq, is a Kurdish singer and painter. He
studied painting at the Institute of Fine Arts of Slemani, graduating in 1985,
and gave his first public performance in 1979, adapting classical Kurdish poems
across dialects. Exiled to Sweden in 1992, he released albums spanning Bîrtan
Dekem (1993) to Shar (City) (2022), with notable releases including Emshow
(Tonight) (2006) and Wefayi (2010). He performed with the Living Fire Ensemble
in Gothenburg and Stockholm in 2006 and 2007, and served as a judge on the
television show Kurd Idol.
