Abacus is a German rock ensemble formed in January 1971. The original lineup
consisted of Chris Williams, Chris Barutzky, Charly Schade, Klaus Kohlhase, and
Felix Hans. The ensemble made its debut at a pop festival in Langelsheim and
signed with the Polydor label. Its eponymous debut studio recording, Abacus,
appeared in 1971, followed by Just a Day's Journey Away in 1972. The band became
inactive in 1976 due to musical differences. In 1979, the group resumed activity
